Elizabeth Marie Miller



Elizabeth Marie Miller, age 94, of New Philadelphia, O., passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Community Hospice House, New Philadelphia, surrounded by her family.

Born October 5, 1918 at Uhrichsville, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Armine P. and Esella (Eckhardt) Aeschliman (Ashleman).

In 1936, Elizabeth graduated from Uhrichsville High School. She was employed at Earl Ashleman’s Market in Uhrichsville for 25 years then F. B. Maurer Market in Uhrichsville and later New Philadelphia. She then retired and spent winters in Florida with her husband Duane A. Miller, whom she married on June 28, 1949. She restarted her career at 75, working at Bag-N-Save for Jim and Cindy Stoll, then Giant Eagle until retiring again at 89. Elizabeth was a member of the Sharon Moravian Church in Tuscarawas, and a former member of the Eastern Star. Elizabeth liked to travel, play cards, and play games with her grandchildren. She loved life, family, and friends.

Elizabeth is survived by her children Nancy (Donald) Glenn of Dover , Madelyn Cheney of Austin, Texas and Robert (Marilyn) Miller of Davison, Michigan; six grandchildren Carol Withem of New Philadelphia, Beth (Tracy) Tedrow of New Philadelphia, Jennifer Robinson of Port Orange, Florida, Deborah (Tom) Mazy of Dublin, Keith (Valerie) Cheney of Austin, Texas and Scott (Shawna) Cheney of Redman, Washington; 7 great grandchildren Elizabeth and Nick Withem, Janice Hughes, Grace, Olivia, Kate and Cara Cheney; extended family Linda Glenn, Lisa (David) George, Laura Lahmers, Jeff, Elaine , Hal and Hilary Tedrow and special care giver and friend Yvonne Hunter.

In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Duane A. Miller, and her siblings Herman, Earl, Armine, Roy, Dorothy and Mary Aeschliman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, November 5, 2012 at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville, with the Rev. Dennis Rohn officiating. Burial will follow at the Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery in Tuscarawas.

Calling hours are from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the funeral home.
