Winter Safety Awareness Week is Underway

With winter fast approaching, the time has come for the community to prepare for the possibility of severe weather.

Patty Levengood, Director of the Tuscarawas County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency, says the time is now for everyone to get their homes ready for winter.

Levengood recommends that in addition to the normal emergency kits everyone would have year-round that they prepare special winter disaster kits for their home and their vehicle.

Levengood suggests that people equip themselves with a portable weather radio for their homes or businesses.

Levengood says that no matter what the time of year, a disaster preparedness plan should always be in place.

Levengood says it’s a good idea to have emergency plans and to have those plans reviewed with all household members on a regular basis.
