He was the owner of Village Gulf Service in Berlin for 9 years, he then worked at Millersburg Tire Service for 29 years and following his retirement he was a driver for Trail Plumbing. He was an active member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church where he was a former Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Song Leader and various other duties over the years. He especially enjoyed following his grandchildren in their sporting and school activities over the years as well as traveling with his wife.
He is survived by his wife the former Mary Kauffman whom he married April 19, 1955; his children Sharon (John) Ling of Walnut Creek, Ron (Jacque) Schrock of Allen, TX, Deb (Lee) Miller of Berlin, and Brent (Dorothy) Schrock of Millersburg, 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and was awaiting the arrival of his fourth great grandchild, his sister Esther (Menno) Troyer of Ashland, and brothers Andrew (Laura) Schrock of Cashton, Wisconsin and Emanuel (Edna) Schrock of Fredericktown.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his 2 sisters Katie Coblentz and Mary Keim and 3 brothers David Schrock, Melvin Schrock and Paul Schrock.
Services will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Pleasant View Mennonite Church with Pastor Dennis Hostetler officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Pleasant View Mennonite Church. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Greater Wayne-Holmes County or Pleasant View Mennonite Church.
