Dover Public Library to Accept Food for Fines

The Dover Public Library is giving patrons the chance to have their fines waived while helping with a charitable cause.

The library’s third annual Food for Fines program runs today (19th) through Saturday (24th).

Director Jim Gill says this campaign is a way for the library to help out the community and to bring in non-perishable goods for Tuscarawas County’s Share-A-Christmas effort.

The most that can be waived from anyone’s fine in a single day is five dollars. Gill says there are exceptions to the sort of food items that can be accepted.

Gill reminds everyone this campaign is designed to help those with overdue fines and does not allow for fees generated by lost or damaged materials to be waived.

Gill says the Food for Fines program isn’t the only way the library is helping with Share-A-Christmas.

Again, the Dover Public Library’s Food for Fines event runs from November 19th through the 24th
