For the first time in school history, the Dover football team has won the Region 11 championship. Dover defeated West Holmes on Saturday (November 17th) night 48-21 to advance to the Final Four.
Dover head coach Dan Ifft says he’s very proud of how his team’s defense performed against West Holmes’ powerful offense.
Saturday’s game was the sixth time the Tornadoes have competed for the regional championship. Coach Ifft says he’s delighted the team has finally conquered the challenge.
Ifft says he’s happy for the win not only for the team but also for the community.
The Dover Tornadoes will face Akron-St. Vincent-St. Mary in the state semi-finals this Saturday (November 24th) at 7:00pm at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium in Massillon. A Dover victory this Saturday would place the Tornadoes in the Division III state title game on Saturday, December 1st.
