Councilman Mark Haney says the idea of a grant was originally posed to him by MWCD Public Information Officer Darrin Lautenschleger.
Haney says the grant program is something that many municipalities are not even aware of and could help with debris removal in the creek.
Haney says he has been working on this issue for nearly two months now but notes that the problems with the creek have been ongoing.
Haney says he is unaware of a specific dollar amount for the grant and notes that officials are still working on seeking approval from the MWCD.
If approved, Haney says he would like to see work begin in the spring or summer of 2013.
