After an illness lasting a few months, Harold died peacefully surrounded by family at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia.
He married his bride of 60 years on November 15, 1952. Harold was a lifelong parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dennison, Ohio and was a graduate of Immaculate Conception School in 1943.
Harold was the son of the late Mark and Louise LeMonte. He was the last surviving member of his family. Harold is survived by his wife, Doris (Parker) LeMonte; daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Linda) Cox of Uhrichsville; and son, Ken LeMonte of Cleveland. Harold had one granddaughter, Mrs. Danny (Tara) Quillin of Newcomerstown and four great-grandchildren, Brionna, Austin, Alexis, Ashton; 3 step grandsons and 6 step great grandchildren.
As an avid spectator sports fan, Harold especially enjoyed watching football. He rooted enthusiastically for Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Cleveland Browns.
For over 30 years, Harold worked at Gradall in New Philadelphia. He held various positions during his tenure and ended his career late in 1985. While working at Gradall, Harold shared the responsibilities with his wife of owning and operating small restaurants in Dennison, Uhrichsville and Gnadenhutten.
Harold was the most senior member of the Knights of Columbus in Dennison and earned the honor of being a Third Degree Knight.
Of all the things Harold loved to do, he especially loved to tinker around in his garage and home. He enjoyed making things, fixing things and creating tokens of his thoughtfulness for his family and friends.
To celebrate the wonderful life Harold LeMonte lived, friends and family are welcome and encouraged to visit at Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, 634 North Water Street, Uhrichsville, Ohio 44683, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012, for calling hours. Funeral services will be at 8 p.m., with Father Anthony Lonzo officiating.
