A daughter of the late William B. and Bonnie (Lunsford) Cook, Phillis was born at Cumberland, North Carolina on March 14, 1929.
She attended school at Stedman, North Carolina and later in life returned to school where she earned her certification as a pilot.
For 34 years, while raising her family, Phillis resided in Alaska. She celebrated life with her love of travel, having visited numerous countries around the world, the “lower 48”, Hawaii and Canada.
Phillis will be missed by her family which includes two daughters, Ann Martin and Debbie Green; four sons, Thomas, Larry, Jerry and Michael Davis; four sisters, Margie Sandy, Carol Lloyd, Peggy Currie, and Bonnie Jones.
Eleven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.
In addition to her parents, Phillis is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, McClellan H. Davis; a son, Martin Davis; four brothers, Blake, Carl, Martin, and Robert Cook; a grandson and two granddaughters.
Her family and friends will gather for visitation on Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home at Fayetteville, North Carolina. A funeral service celebrating Ms. Davis’ life will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 2:30 PM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in the Cumberland Memorial Cemetery at Fayetteville.
