Troopers says the crash occurred at 11:58am Saturday on US 250 in Strasburg. Reports claim 50-year-old Roland J. Baker Jr. of Dover was traveling eastbound on US 250 when a suspected medical problem caused him to drive off the left side of the roadway, strike a guy-wire, and eventually come to rest in a nearby field. Baker was later taken to Aultman Hospital in Canton where he was pronounced dead.
Despite sustaining a visible injury from the crash, officials say Baker’s death was the result of his suspected medical problem.
The Stark County coroner is conducting an investigation into the death.
Troopers say it is unknown whether or not Baker was wearing a seatbelt and no other passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
