Ohio First Responders Receive Safety Training

The Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Ohio Department of Transportation have partnered with the Federal Highway Administration to bring the first-ever Traffic Incident Management training to Ohio’s first responders and public safety personnel.

The state’s traffic incident management program is called Ohio QuickClear. Highway Patrol Spokesperson Lt. Anne Ralston says those participating in the program include firefighters, EMS, law enforcement, transportation personnel and towing and recovery services.

Ralston says approximately 250 first responders have already gone through the training.

Ralston says motorists who aren’t first responders can also play an important role in traffic safety.

Ralston also suggests that motorists avoid following too closely while traveling by allowing at two car lengths for every ten miles per hour being traveled.
