He attended Columbus Community College, Ohio State University and was currently enrolled at Kent State University. He was employed as a lab technician at various hospitals in Central Ohio. He attended both St. John United Church of Christ at Bolivar and The Way Christian Church at Mt. Eaton. Roop was a very talented muscian and vocalist and spoke 7 languages. He also wrote and published two books of poetry.
He is survived by his wife the former Doris Dean whom he married December 26, 1975. Also surviving are a son Dhiraj “D.J.” (Erin) Hans of Dover; 2 grandchildren Isaac John Lieser-Hans and Bethany Rain Hans; a brother Ramesh Hans and 2 sisters Dr. Satya Bharmota and Nirmala Batta.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Ranjeet Hans.
Funeral services will be held Saturday December 29, 2012 at 1:00 PM in St. John United Church of Christ at Bolivar with Rev. Jody Jones officiating. Viewing and visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM in the church prior to services. Following services a lunch and time of sharing will be held in the church social hall. The Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to help with medical expenses.
