Gibbs Offers Thoughts on “Fiscal Cliff”

18th District Congressman Bob Gibbs (R-Ohio) says it’s time for the United States Senate to take action to help avoid the “fiscal cliff.”

Following a conference call Thursday, Gibbs says the House of Representatives will return to work on Sunday.

Gibbs notes that the House of Representatives has already acted.

Gibbs says the Senate does have a few options when it comes to what they can do moving forward.

Ultimately, Gibbs says that he is in favor of more sensible spending cuts.

Gibbs says the effects of the “fiscal cliff” could affect families, including those here in Ohio.

Should both sides fail to come to an agreement before January 1st, Gibbs says there will still be a small window of time to take action.

If a deal is not reached to avoid the problem, the "fiscal cliff" would prompt spending cuts and tax increases across the United States.
