He was a graduate of Dennison St. Mary’s High School in the class of 1954 where his friends remember him as “Joey” before beginning his employment with the Department of Motor Vehicles’ Traffic Survey Division. Later, he was a letter carrier for the Uhrichsville Post Office before starting his thirty-two year career with the Timken Company in New Philadelphia. He also served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves for a number of years. In his spare time, he loved umpiring for high school boys baseball and girls softball games. He was a longtime member of the Tuscarawas County Umpires Association, having served as their president for over twenty years, and was elected to their Hall of Fame in 2010. His greatest joy came from the time that he spent with his family, especially enjoying attending the sporting events of all of his grandchildren. He also was an avid traveler who loved cruising and going to Las Vegas whenever he got the chance.
