City Residents Warned to Move Vehicles

Vehicles left on city streets or alleys in New Philadelphia run the risk of being towed.

Safety Director Greg Popham says the city will begin towing vehicles that have been left parked for more than 48 hours Monday.

A city ordinance requires vehicles to be moved every 48 hours.  Popham says it’s obvious some vehicles haven’t been moved in quite a while.

Popham says people who feel they have a legitimate reason for a vehicle to exceed the 48-hour limit can ask for permission to not move the vehicle.

Between now and Monday, the police will attempt to contact the property owner or tenant nearest the parked vehicle to make a request to move the vehicle.
