Gerald “Jerry” Wortman was chosen last week to complete the term of Dave Johnson, who retired from the position in December.
Tuscarawas County Democratic Party chairwoman Ida Barlock says Wortman has since decided not to accept the job.
Barlock says the search will start all over. She says anyone who applied for the position originally will not have to re-apply.
Barlock says the deadline to apply for the treasurer’s position is January 25th.
Applications can be submitted by e-mail to tuscdems@gmail.com or in person at Democratic Party headquarters at the Monroe Centre in New Philadelphia.
Members of the New Philadelphia Democratic Party Central Committee will meet to choose the new city treasurer on January 29th.
