John R. Weaver, 82, of Berlin died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in Aultman Hospital at Canton. He was born October 11, 1930 in Berlin Twp. to the late Eli J and Mary Ann (Hershberger) Weaver.
He was a graduate of Berlin High School, a member of Martins Creek Mennonite Church and was also involved with the Flat Ridge Mennonite Church in Guernsey County for 25 years. He joined The Gideon’s International in 1978, sang in the Holmes County Men’s Chorus for 27 years and was a member of the Berlin Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. for 30 years. He was a farmer for 5 years and a Weight Master for the Holmes Limestone Company for 4 1/2 years. He operated a feed distribution center and was an owner of the Quality Feed Store Inc. for 17 years. He was a realtor with Realestate Showcase and Dutchland Realty for 30 plus years and he was the weights and measurer inspector for Holmes County Ohio for 12 years. He had a full and joyful life serving His LORD and the many people the he met.
He is survived by his wife the former Annetta J. Hamsher whom he married on August 17, 1952; his daughter Nancy J. Weaver of Berlin and son Jay Russell Weaver of Berlin, his sisters Mabel Miller of Walnut Hills, Joan Showalter of Wilmot and a brother Vernon (Bertha) Weaver of Benton.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Ralph and Joe and his sisters Grace Gerber, Anna Simpson, and Lela Wengerd.
Services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Martins Creek Mennonite Church at Millersburg with Pastors Jay Conn and Nelson Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Martins Creek Mennonite Church at Millersburg. Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek.
