He was a Newcomerstown High School graduate. He was a US Navy WWII veteran serving from June 13, 1944 until February 13, 1946. He retired from Simonds Industries of Newcomerstown. He was a member of the American Legion of Newcomerstown.
On Monday, December 18, 1939 he married Beatrice (Powell) Pappas who survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Jean Edwards of Dayton; two sons, James Pappas and wife Melody of Newcomerstown, and David Pappas and wife Linda of Glasgow, Ky; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen of Peoria, Ill., and Thelma of Florida.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mike and George; three sisters, Kathryn, Mary and Stella.
