Betty L. Latimer



Betty L. Latimer, age 82, of 4084 New Cumberland Road N.E., Mineral City, Ohio (New Cumberland), died peacefully in her home early Wednesday morning, January 30, 2013 due to complications from a stroke.

She was born February 4, 1930 in Perrysville, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Price and Margie Day Grogg. On October 23, 1948, she married Paul James Latimer, who died December 27, 1991. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson Thomas James Latimer, a sister Alice "Eva" Stringer, a brother Fred Wolford, and a son-in-law James Healy.

Betty was primarily a homemaker whose main goal was to care for her children and grandchildren. She was a life member of the D.A.V. and frequently enjoyed the task of putting on garage sales in front of her home. Betty was a soft-hearted individual who cared deeply for her animal friends, especially the strays who were lucky enough to come into her life.

She is survived by two sons and two daughters James Paul (Shirley) Latimer and Jeffrey (Crystal) Latimer, both of New Cumberland, Mrs. Joy L. Healey of Merrillsville, Indiana and Janet Corpman of New Philadelphia, O., a brother, Bill Leggett of Toronto, O., a sister, Marie Golkie of Akron, O., her six grandchildren Mrs. Dan (Bobbi Jo) Delahunty of South Beach, Fla., Kenny (Johna) Latimer of Cleveland, O., Mrs. Geoff (Tiffany) Finley of Mineral City, Michael Latimer and companion Crystal Bunton and Megan and Sarah Latimer, all of New Cumberland, her eight great-grandchildren Danny and Ashley Delahunty, both of South Beach, Fla., Justin and Shelby Finley, both of Mineral City, Isaiah, Maiya, and Jasmine Latimer, all of Cleveland, and Michael Latimer of New Cumberland, her companion, Roy Guy of Leesville, O., lifelong friend, Jessie Grezlik and her good friends Mary Lee Sears, Ann Patrick, Karen Burkhart, and Brenda Carroll, all of New Cumberland.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 2, 2013 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Pastor Larry Stitt officiating. Interment will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
