John was a retired lineman working at Timken and was a school bus driver for Carrollton Exempted Village Schools. He was a Harrison Township Trustee, member of the Farm Bureau, and a 4H Advisor in Carroll County.
He is survived by his wife, the former Betty Sprowls, whom he married November 1, 1950. Also surviving are a son, Roy Gotshall of Jewett; daughter, Jane Gotshall of Carrollton; five grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Frances Skeeles of Georgia; brother, Paul Edward Gotshall of Jewett.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, June Woods.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Rev. Dan Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery near Jewett. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 p.m. in the funeral home.
