Owen was a 1943 graduate of Coshocton High School. After graduation he joined the United States Army, and fought in the European Theatre of Operations in the Artillery during World War II. Owen worked several years for General Electric, and then was employed by Columbia Gas in which he retired after 30 years of service. Owen loved animals and nature, but most of all being at home and spending time with his family. On October 30, 1952, Owen married Carma L. (Miller) Overholt, who survives.
In addition to his wife Carma; Owen is survived by one son, Brent M. (Linda) Overholt of Coshocton; one sister, Gertrude (Glenn) Mikesell; two nephews; and four grand goddaughters.
Owen is preceded in death by his wife's brother, Ira T. Miller.
Funeral services will be held at Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 11:00am with Pastor Bryan Kittner officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery where the Coshocton County Veterans Council will perform military honors. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of service on Wednesday.
