According to the Dover police department, the truck was recovered from the river by a diving team just before 5:30pm on Thursday.
Dover fire captain Brooks Ross says city fire and police departments had conducted an initial search of the water through the use of sound-scan SONAR equipment on February 4th in response to a call to the 911 emergency center from a passerby who said she saw what appeared to be the tail lights of a vehicle in the river.
The first search was unsuccessful in finding anything in the river.
However, police chief Joe Ball says he requested a second search take place after a report from a man who reported his pick-up truck had been stolen.
Ball says an additional interview with the woman who made the call to 911 was another factor in searching the river a second time.
Dover police report that no bodies were found in the vehicle and that investigation is continuing into who is responsible for the incident.
