2012-13 Campaign Chair Bob Smith announced the campaign exceeded the yearly goal by $964 at the organization’s annual meeting and awards luncheon Thursday.
Smith credits the United Way’s numerous volunteers and a community that never fails to step up and give for making this year’s campaign a huge success.
Proceeds from the United Way campaign will provide funding to a number of area health & human service programs focusing on strengthening families & children, promoting health & wellness, and reducing emergency needs.
Smith says being chairman of the campaign was a phenomenal experience.
During Thursday’s annual meeting, the United Way also honored many local businesses and volunteers including the presentation of the Vic Marsh Annual Service Award to Cheryl Stevenson of Dover.
Stevenson, whose contributions to the United Way include serving as a campaign volunteer, Loan Executive, Agency Administration Committee member, and on the Board of Trustees, says she never dreamed she would receive this prestigious award.
In addition, a number of local companies and organizations were presented with awards for their contributions to the 2012-2013 campaign and they are as follows:
