He was ordained as a minister in 1967, was involved in evangelistic work and was a self-employed mason for over 50 years. He was a member of the Messiah Fellowship Church near Charm.
Surviving is his wife the former Leona Hershberger to whom he was married for 52 years. Also surviving are children; Emeline married to Robert Miller of Shreve, Tyrannus married to Ella (Byler) of Millersburg, Darius married to Lois (Stutzman) of Sugarcreek, Jeriah married to LeAnna (Kaufman) of Sugarcreek and Javan of Sugarcreek, and grandchildren Kendall, Jared, Janelle, Jolan, Reagan and Tahlia. He is survived by his brother Jonas (Katie Beachy) of Sugarcreek, sister Mary (Wayne Miller) of walnut Creek, sister Viola (Jake Weaver) of Sugarcreek and preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Vernon and the late (FannieTroyer), Marvin and (Amanda Miller who survives), and Norman and (Karen Schlabach who survives).
Services will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Messiah Fellowship Church near Charm with Pastor Philip Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 PM and Monday 2-4 & 6-8 PM all at the Messiah Fellowship Church near Charm. Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek.
