A resident of Dennison for most of her life, Ann was a member of Dennison Presbyterian Church since 1952 and was a member of its Work Bible Class for over 40 years. After high school she worked at McCaws Rexall Drug Store and Quimby’s Bakery for a time. Later, she worked at the Scio Pottery during her husband’s military service. She was married to Joseph Edward Illuv on January 21, 1944 in Arkansas and was a homemaker for most of her married life. She was also a part-time employee of Twin City Hospital’s dietary department where she was a baker for a number of years, as well as volunteering at the Twin City Hospital Coffee Bar. Ann loved caring for her home and her husband, spending many happy hours sewing, baking and gardening, and taking great pride in her flowers and yard. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading. She was a member of Union Township Country Club and Jr. Sorosis Club where she had many dear friends, and she was honored as a Kentucky Colonel in September of 1978.
In addition to her parents and husband, who died on August 31, 1987, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph E. and John R. McDevitt; sister, Ethel M. Wagstaff Welch; a niece, Mary Ann Wagstaff Price; and a nephew, Gregory E. McDevitt.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Johnny Blaine (Karen) McDevitt, Jeffrey Brian (Judy) McDevitt, Lori (Donnie, deceased) Jones, Melody Smith, Daphne (Jeff) Brown, Don (Cindi) Wagstaff, Harold Wagstaff, James B. McDevitt, Donna Truskolaski, and Thomas (Carol) Tokarchic.
Services for Ann, officiated by Rev. Carolyn Behrendt, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 22, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
