Glenn A. Parker, age 84, of Dennison, O., passed away at his home on Monday, February 18, 2013. Glenn was born June 20, 1928, the son of the late Roy and Mary (Maffit) Parker and was a lifelong resident of Dennison, graduating from Dennison High School in 1946.
He was married 64 years to the love of his life, Florence Simmons, whom he married June 27, 1948 at St. James Lutheran Church in Tusky.
Glenn worked for Hooker’s Dairy, followed by the Dennison Coca Cola Bottlers, then was co-owner of Parker’s Sohio with brother-in-law, Jum Simmons, for 10 years. He retired from Twin City Automotive after 28 years, where he was twice named the NAPA salesman of the year.
He served as a Boy Scout Leader as well as coaching youth baseball and girls softball. Glenn was a lifetime member of the Uhrichsville Elks, active in the Elks bowling and golf leagues for many years. He and his wife were members of the Star Promonaders and New Towne Mall Square Dancers.
Glenn was a wonderful father and grandfather. An avid sports fan, he rarely missed a sporting event of his children or his grandchildren. He was a member of the Grant Street United Methodist Church until its closing and an active member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Dennison. He also attended the Twin Cities Senior Center where he enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with friends.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his three children, Rick Parker, of Tusky, Becky (Bill) Moughiman of New Philadelphia, and Michael (Lori) Parker of Dover. Grandchildren include AngiLyn (Brian) Loll of Chicago, IL; Shane Moughiman of Columbus; Dr. Choo Moughiman of North Canton, Lexi Moughiman and fiancé, Brandon Romeo, of Medina; Brooke (David) Hill of Dover, Cory (Danea) Parker of Dover; and Kirstin (Cody) Calkins of East Sparta. Three great-grandchildren, Teagan Hill, Trenton and Kendal Parker and all his grand dogs complete the family. Also surviving are two sisters, Grace McCray of Bradenton, FL and Doris LeMonte of Uhrichsville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and Carl, and three sisters, Betty McNely, Bonnie Bond, and an infant sister.
Calling hours will be held at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. in Uhrichsville on Wednesday, February 20th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Services will be Thursday, February 21st at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor George Reichman officiating, followed by interment at St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery in Tuscarawas.
