Virginia “Jenny” Mildred Hackney, age 62, of 5647 Sandhill Drive, Winston Salem, North Carolina 27105, formerly of Freeport died unexpectedly at her son’s home in Coshocton while visiting on Tuesday, February 26, 2013.She was born May 12, 1950 in Chillicothe, Ohio, a daughter of the late Clifford Seymour and Scioto Mae Dalton Seymour.

She attended school in Chillicothe and spent her life making a home for her husband and sons. She also liked to crochet and was an avid Lakeland Raider basketball mom when her sons were playing.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, David Truman Hackney. He died January 16, 2011. They were married February 11, 1967.

Surviving are four sons: David (Amanda) Hackney of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Brian (Stacey) Hackney of Ormond Beach, Florida, Joe (special friend Cori Hanlon) Hackney of Deersville, and Shawn Hackney of Coshocton; four brothers, Melvin Seymour of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Pete Seymour of Chillicothe, Bud Seymour of Scipio, Indiana, and George Seymour of Columbus, two sisters: Shirley Roberts of Columbus and Katheryn Whitmer of Ironton; thirteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark Hackney; and two sisters Barb Walters and Rosie Collins.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport with Pastor Dave Koch officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmont Union Cemetery, Freeport. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Friday, March 1 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Lakeland Group Ministries food pantry.
