Ohio Farm Bureau Presidents Go To Washington

The county presidents of the Ohio Farm Bureau are gathering this week in the nation’s capitol.

This is the 67th year the bureau presidents will make their trip to Washington, D.C. to discuss the stories and concerns of farmers and landowners.

Organization Director Michele Specht says the agenda for the three days of the trip is a busy one.

The bureau members will learn about agriculture in other countries during their visit to the embassies of Australia and Ireland.

Specht says the embassy visits are always an exciting experience.

Specht says one of the highlights of the trip is the bureau’s attendance at a forum that will be hosted by House Speaker and Ohio 8th congressional district U.S. Representative John Boehner.

Specht says the bureau presidents will also get to talk with Ohio U.S. Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman.

WTUZ’s Dave Peffer is traveling with the Ohio Farm Bureau presidents during their visit to Washington on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Listen for his reports throughout the week on WTUZ News.
