a homemaker and was retired from East Holmes Schools where she worked as a cook for 25 years. Lula was a member of Berlin Mennonite Church and was a loving and caring mother and grandmother that enjoyed spending time with her family. She was married on September 7, 1947 to Eli Swartzentruber who died on July 17, 2008.
She is survived by her 3 sons; Carl (Judi) Swartzentruber of Berlin, Merle (Judy) Swartzentruber of Sugarcreek and Lynn (Tina) Swartzentruber of Berlin, daughter-in-law Linda Markley of Smithville, 6 grandchildren Trisha (Travis) Lamply of Tennessee, Travis (Kari) Swartzentruber of Dover, Tessa (Ari)Yoder of Baltic, Angie (Andrew) Weaver of Walnut Creek, Lance Swartzentruber of Berlin and Nikki Swartzentruber of Berlin, 5 great grandchildren Dominic, Darius and Dylan Lamply and Henry and Lucas Swartzentruber, 3 brothers Henry Stutzman of Berlin, Loil (Sylvia) Stutzman of Berlin and Dean (Kathy) Stutzman of Seville, 4 sisters Violet (Darwin) Troyer of Sugarcreek, Velma (Ralph) Troyer of Berlin, Elsie Yoder of Berlin, and Ruth Ann (Loren) Yoder of Arthur, Illinois and many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son Galen and her brother Orris.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Berlin Mennonite Church with Pastor Myron Weaver officiating. Graveside services at Berlin Cemetery will be held on Wednesday at 9:45 AM prior to the services at the church. Friends may call on Tuesday 6-8 PM at the Berlin Mennonite Church.
