Steve was born in Gallipolis on July 27th, 1951 to the late Millard C. Spaulding and Phyllis Ann (Taylor) Pappas. He was a graduate of Kyger Creek High School and attended Ohio University in Athens. Steve resided most of his adult life in Coshocton as the President and CEO of Shaffer Sports Events, where his love of golf blended with the family business. He loved his local community as dearly as he did his family and many great friends. Indeed he was able to pursue this in his work with the Coshocton County Probate and Juvenile Court, under the honorable David Burns and now Van Blanchard, upon his retirement from small business. He took great pride in assisting at-risk and troubled youth in our community and having the opportunity to work with the wonderful members of the court. Their kindness, caring and support on full display this last month.
Steve is survived by his wife, Linda (Bible) Spaulding, of thirty years. One son Lanny Spaulding and one stepson Jay Gill; parents Phyllis Ann and Theodore "Ted" Pappas. His brothers Robert "Bobby" and Daniel "Dan" Spaulding, along with nephew and niece, Cory and Amy Spaulding; and many other friends and family members.
Steve is preceded in death by his father, and many friends who have left us too soon.
A Public Gathering will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2013 from 5-7:00 pm at Given-Dawson Funeral Home. A private family service will be held at 7:30 pm.
It is the wishes of the family that any memorial contributions be given to two institutions that allowed us more time with Steve than they would have had.
