Browns Organization Now Looks To '09

The unraveling has begun in Cleveland. What looked to be an upset in the making for the Browns turned to disaster Sunday when the Indianapolis defense forced a fumble and returned it for the game’s only touchdown in the fourth quarter. The final score of 10-6 was a tough one for the defense to swallow, having held Peyton Manning and the Colts’ offense to 3 points and 215 total yards. Matters were made worse by injury, as Kellen Winslow was possibly lost for the season with an ankle injury on the first play of the second half, and quarterback Derek Anderson suffered knee ligament damage late in the 4th quarter. With Brady Quinn already injured and out for the year, which leaves Ken Dorsey as the only true quarterback on the roster…and wildcat QB Josh Cribbs possibly in a position to take quite a few more snaps over the next month. The devastating loss leaves the Browns officially dead for the year at 4-8, and talk of bringing on Bill Cowher or even Marty Schottenheimer to replace Romeo Crennel as head coach is the talk of the town (if not the league). Indy escaped with a 5-game winning streak and very good odds of making the playoffs while getting healthy at the same time. Cleveland has lost 6 of 7 home games this year and is bracing for major transition…again.
