ODNR Swim Safe Program

As the warm days of summer continue, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Parks and Recreation is reminding beach goers to be safe when swimming.

Jim Henahan, Community Partnerships Manager with the ODNR, says the Swim Safe Program is designed to remind swimmers to take a higher level of awareness when swimming in state waterways.

Henahan Comments:

Henahan says it is important to only swim in the designated areas.

Henahan Comments:

Now, Henahan says there have been several drownings in the past, most due to swimming in unsafe swimming areas and says there have been 2 already this year.

Henahan Comments:

Henahan says alcohol is illegal in Ohio’s state parks and should be left at home when swimming.
