Many residents in Stark, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties will have to find alternative ways of disposing their household hazardous waste.
The Stark-Tuscarawas-Wayne Joint Solid Waste District is notifying residents that there will be no household hazardous waste collection this year as in years past.
District Executive Director David Held made the announcement last week.
Held Comments:
Held says new Ohio EPA regulations make it nearly impossible for the District to collect hazardous waste from residents.
Held Comments:
Held says the District is hoping to educate residents about how to dispose of household hazardous waste and large appliances themselves.
Held Comments:
Held says the District is aiming to educate the public about tire drop-offs in the 3-county area, and says the District is also planning to working with area farm bureaus to help spread the word about tire drop-off sites, which enable residents to drop-off a maximum of 12 tires per year.
