Organization Hopes to Make Getting Assistance Easier



HARCATUS Officials are hosting a series of Ohio Benefit Bank capacity building events in the area this week.

 

Executive Director Michele Lucas says the Tri-county Community Action Agency has partnered with the Ohio Association of Second Harvest Foodbanks and the Health Path Foundation of Ohio to host the events.

Lucas says the Ohio Benefit Bank has made the process of seeking assistance a lot easier for many Ohioans.

Lucas says she hopes to be able to expand the Ohio Benefit Bank network throughout each County including Tuscarawas, Carroll and Harrison.

Lucas says each event will feature a presentation about the Ohio Benefit Bank and says the Bank is provided by the joint efforts of the Ohio Association of Second Harvest Foodbanks, the Office of Governor Ted Strickland and over 12-hundred different faith-based, community and private sector organizations.

 

Since the program’s inception in 2006, the Bank has assisted over 157-thousand Ohioans claim tax credits, and work supports, valued at over 323-million dollars.
