(Wednesday, September 12th) New Philadelphia, Ohio – City administration is waiting on approval of a grant that would allow construction of a park project begin next year.

New Philadelphia submitted an application to Clean Ohio for funding to start Phase 1.

Mayor Joel Day says this project is for the Southside Community Park and the grant money would go toward an entrance roadway, sewer, and water lines, and a way to utilize the wooded area on the parks’ east side.

If granted, the Clean Ohio funding will be in addition to $400,000 the city received from the State Capital Budget.

<p>A Master Plan was approved in 2017 for the $6 million multi-function park with baseball, soccer, and football fields, as well as a walking trail.
