Paul R. “Lumpy” Donohoe, 86, of Uhrichsville, passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Canton on Saturday, July 21, 2018, after a brief illness. Born June 1, 1932 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Thomas Patrick and Blanche Elizabeth (Whitaker) Donohoe.
A lifelong Twin City resident, Paul was a 1950 graduate of St. Mary’s High School and faithful member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956 before returning home to a long career with Heil Distributing. He was a Bishop Junker 4th Degree Knight and a member of the Dennison Knights of Columbus, Truckers’ Union Local #92, Dennison Eagles, American Italian Club, and Tuscarawas V.F.W. Post #7943. He was well-loved and will be deeply missed, not only by his family, but by his many dear friends throughout the community.
On October 26, 1957, he married the former Mary Kae Heil who survives him along with their children, Laura (Robert) Davis, Paul (Sheila) Donohoe, Lisa (Bill) Benedetto and Susan (Richard) Sunderlin; grandchildren, Emily, Jessica, Courtney, Cory, Caitlyn, Tyler, Tiffany and Taryn; siblings, Robert Donohoe and Margie Zanon; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Frances Gross, and Charles, James, Matthew and Thomas Donohoe.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison and will conclude with a 6:45 p.m. Christian Wake Service. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church.
