Police Investigate Apparent Murder

(Tuesday, September 12th) Newcomerstown, Ohio – Investigators plan to execute search warrants today after a body was discovered in the front yard of a Newcomerstown residence.

Police Chief Gary Holland confirmed that officers were called to 511 Tuscarawas Avenue just before 7:30 a.m. Monday morning.

“We found an individual that was deceased, had been there for a short time with a gunshot wound to the back.”

Chief Holland explained that on Monday afternoon investigators executed a search warrant at a home in which they believe the victim attended a party the night before.

Holland noted they believe he arrived at the party around 11:00 p.m. Sunday night and the incident occurred in the 4:00 hour Monday morning.

Investigators have confirmed plans to execute additional search warrants on Tuesday.

The victim’s name has not been released pending positive identification expected Tuesday, but Chief Holland noted that he’s around 19 or 20 years old.
