(Friday, December 21st) New Philadelphia, Ohio – An attempted sexual assault turned into a robbery when the 21-year-old victim fought back.
On Friday, the New Philadelphia Police Department received a report from a city resident stating that she had been attacked.
A press release states that the woman told officials she was forced to ground by a man, who held a kitchen knife to her throat as he attempted to remove her leggings.
When she fought back by kicking and screaming, the man stopped and instead took her change purse which had fallen out of her pocket.
The suspect is described as 5’7”, chubby, and was wearing eyeglasses. He was also last seen wearing a light blue hoodie, jeans, white tennis shoes, and a black knit toboggan.

At this time, police do not believe this incident is related to a November assault that occurred on the Southside of the city.
