Police Sends Reminder: Lock Your Vehicle Door

<p>Mary Alice Reporting:

Newcomerstown Police are sending a reminder to county residents after recent calls stating valuables have been taken from vehicles.

Police Chief Gary Holland explains every year a large number of reports come into the station about vehicles being ransacked.

“Individuals have left tools in, tools have come up missing, money, change, and in some cases high dollar items, jump starts and guns.”

Holland says if your vehicle is unlocked and someone checks it, they’re going to get in it.

“Any place where there are vehicles and maybe the streets are dark, off an alley, parked in a driveway where the visibility on that vehicle is limited.”

He adds if you do leave something in your vehicle make sure to hide it and to, again, lock all of the doors.
