Preston T. Morrison Sr., age 58, of Dover, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018, in Community Hospice’s Truman House, New Philadelphia, after battling cancer.
Born October 27, 1960, in Dover, he was a son of the late Robert A. Sr. and Harriet C. Hupp Morrison. Preston attended New Philadelphia High School, and was a long-time employee of Fenton Brothers Electric Co., New Philadelphia. From the time he was a boy he was very mechanical and wanted to know how things worked. Preston was also employed by RTY, Inc. at New Philadelphia’s Tuscora Park in maintenance, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He especially liked working on the park’s train and loved seeing happiness on children’s faces. Preston was also a long-time fan of the Cleveland Browns as well as NASCAR.
Survivors include his companion, Sherrie Murray of Dover; his children, Michelle, Johnny and Melissa Morrison, Andrew McKain, Danelle, Jason Jr. and Bryce Murray; his fourteen grandchildren; his siblings, Sheryl Hunter, Robert “Bob”, Richard “Rick” (Sandra) and Charles “Charlie” (Mary) Morrison, and Shannon Wright; and his nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Preston was preceded in death by his beloved son, Preston Morrison II, and his brother-in-law, Alan Hunter.
In keeping with Preston’s wishes, he will be cremated. Friends may call to pay their respects and share memories on Thursday, December 20, 6 – 8 p.m., at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 21, at 2 p.m., in the funeral home; Pastor Alvin B. Conkey will officiate. A private committal service will be held in New Philadelphia’s Evergreen Burial Park.
