Ralph Eugene Quillen, Sr. – August 27, 2017

Ralph Eugene Quillen, Sr., 89, a lifelong Uhrichsville resident, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 27, 2017. Born November 19, 1927 in Uhrichsville, he was a son of the late Osborn Beal and Viola (Rankin) Quillen.

Ralph was a 1945 graduate of Uhrichsville High School before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army at the close of World War II. Upon his return home from the war, he began his long career in the local clay industry, first at Universal and later at Superior Clay from which he retired. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his children, Karen Rae Leishman and Ronald Lee Quillen; grandchildren, Emma (fiancé, Kurtis), Nicholas, Jennalee and Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Keaton; sister, Myrtle Treacle; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Sam and Lori Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Eleanor Anne Gatten; sons, Ralph Quillen, Jr. and Darryl Quillen; brother, Gail Quillen; and sister, Norma Ruffini.

In keeping with Ralph’s wishes, cremation is planned, followed by burial with his beloved wife in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.
