(Thursday, October 11th) Tuscarawas County, Ohio – The Red Kettle season is quickly approaching, and the Salvation Army is setting their highest goal yet.
During the months of November and December, the collection through the Red Kettle Campaign is the biggest fundraiser for the Salvation Army, sustaining their assistance and programs throughout the year.
Dover-New Phila Lieutenant Andrew Allen says he decided last year that if they exceeded their goal last year, they would raise it for this year.
“The past couple years the goal has been $100,000. This year, our kettle goal is going to be $125,000. It is an increase, but I am pretty confident that we will be able to meet it.”
The Red Kettle Campaign kicks off on November 16th, and Allen encourages anyone willing to volunteer at a kettle to contact them.
“We are looking for individuals who are willing to ring bells in 2-hour time slots. They can bring a friend, they can bring their family. We absolutely welcome that. It’s a fantastic opportunity for kids to take part.”
For the kettles that do not have enough volunteers, seasonal workers are hired for 5-hour shifts.
Those interested in volunteering or being hired as seasonal employment can call 330-364-3811.
