René Starinieri – September 13, 2017

René Starinieri, age 60, of Park Village Health Care Center at Dover, passed peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, following a lengthy battle with a rare brain disease.

Born in Akron, Ohio on July 1, 1957, René was a daughter of the late Romeo and Mary Lou Crano Starinieri. She was a 1975 graduate of Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School and earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Akron in 1979.

René spent most of her adult life in California where she spent many years as an interior designer and furniture store manager and was an active participant in industry trade shows. René routinely attended San Francisco Church and was well known throughout her community. She was a strong advocate for children’s causes. To René, no one was ever a stranger; she simply loved people and making them smile.

She will be missed by her brother, Mark (Christee) Starinieri of Canton; her niece, Kyla (Derrick Kennelty-Cohen) Starinieri of Brooklyn, NY; her nephew, Kory Starinieri of Columbus; her former husband and friend, James Casimir of California, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Fr. Ty Tomson will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Noon in Sacred Heart Catholic Church where the family will greet guests one half hour prior to Mass from 11:30-Noon. Following services, all are invited to join the family for a time of food and fellowship in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.

Instead of flowers, the family requests a random act of kindness be performed or a donation to a charity of one’s choice be made.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Park Village for René’s excellent and attentive care for the past years.
