Residents asked to Uncover Fire Hydrants, Help a Neighbor

<p>Mary Alice Reporting:

(Thursday, February 8th) Dennison, Ohio – Winter weather creates challenges for firefighters and a local department is asking residents to help first responders by clearing snow.

Dennison Fire Chief Dave McConnell urged county residents to clear the snow around nearby fire hydrants to help firefighters save time in case of a blaze.

McConnell also asked that residents help fire departments for EEMS-related calls.

“If you have an elderly neighbor and you’re our plowing or shoveling your sidewalk, maybe take the time and shovel your neighbor’s sidewalk and make a path to the street so if we have to get the cot in there for an EMS call it’s easier for us to get in and out.”

He added for everyone to practice fire safety when using portable heaters, heating blankets, or fireplaces.
