Roy E. Wengerd – September 25, 2017

Roy E. Wengerd 87 of Millersburg passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25, 2017 after he quietly and courageously walked thru The Journey of Leukemia.

He was born April 28, 1930 in Millersburg to the late Eli D. and Emma (Troyer) Wengerd.  He was a member of the New Order Amish Church. On November 12, 1953 he married Amanda H. Schlabach. She preceded him in death on December 26, 2012.

He leaves to mourn his departure: 5 sons and 3 daughters; Wayne (Mary) Wengerd, Betty (Allen) Schrock, Esther (Irvin) Miller, Martha (Marion) Miller, and Paul (Carol) Wengerd all of Millersburg, Stephen (Beth) Wengerd of Flat Rock, Illinois, David (Diane) Wengerd and Daniel (Julia) Wengerd both of Millersburg, 47 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, brothers Alvin Wengerd of Millersburg and Wyman Wengerd of Sugarcreek, sisters Mary (John) Miller of Shreve, Barbara (Eli) Miller of Fred, OH, Clara (Dan) Yoder of Mt. Hope, Edna (Henry) Mast of Pittsfield, Illinois, Verna (Ben Jr.) Weaver of Millersburg and Katie (Andy) Miller of Millersburg, his step-mother and 6 step brothers and sisters.  In addition to his precious wife Amanda H. Schlabach and parents, he is preceded in death by 3 great grandsons; Jase Everette Schrock, Kendall Austin Miller and Alex Benjamin Schrock, brothers Levi and Andy, sisters Anna and Elva and brothers-in-law John J.C. Miller, Dan S. Yoder and Ben Jr. Weaver.

Services will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 9:00 AM at the David Wengerd Residence 4375 CR 168 Millersburg with Bishop Pete S. Miller officiating.  Burial will be in Berlin Township Cemetery in Berlin Township, Holmes County.  Friends may call any time at the Wengerd Residence. Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
