(Wednesday, December 19, 2018) Tuscarawas County, Ohio – With just a couple days left in the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign, volunteers enter their final stretch of reaching their donation goal.
In efforts to meet this year’s goal of $125,000 goal, the Divisional Headquarters in Cleveland will provide a one-time match to donations made on Thursday, December 20th.
Lt. Andrew Allen of Dover-New Phila said the one day only $20 donation challenge will take place at all Red Kettle locations in Tuscarawas County.
“So, all $20 bills, $50 bills, $100 bills and then all checks $20 and up will be matched up to $10,000. So, again we’re really hoping that that effort will put us on track to meet our goal.”
Volunteers will be located at both entrances of the New Philadelphia Walmart, Rural King, Big Lots, and Buehler’s in Dover and New Philadelphia and Mako’s Market in Uhrichsville.
Allen said there are many other ways residents can chip in and donate. In this cashless society we are living in, the Salvation Army is now making it easier with their new mobile donation system. Residents can text DOVEROH to 41444 to make a donation.
“And we’re actually doing a paper kettle challenge from now until the end. So with every $5 donation that an individual makes, we will write your name on one of our paper kettles and we will hang them up at our building.”
Donations to the local Salvation Army will assist with the soup kitchen which feeds an average of 40 people a day, many local youth programs and the emergency assistance program.
