Area businesses are encouraged to attend a workshop that will go over local and state taxes.
The ABC’s of City, State, Sales, Income, and Other Ohio Taxes is offered by the Small Business Development Center at Kent State at University at Tuscarawas.
SBDC Director Steve Schilling explains that taxes are a popular question with their clients, and one inquiry from businesses is based on sales taxes and a Supreme Court decision that opened the collection of internet sales.
“Life is going to change for our small business owners who do business outside the state of Ohio and it’s important for them to be ready for that change.”
The Friday, September 21st presenter is Tim Hefty, who Schilling says is well-known in the local area and has assisted small businesses.
“Is very knowledgeable and experienced but more importantly he’ll be down here to answer specific questions.”
One major mistake small business owners can make is not paying their taxes and not being aware of what tax responsibilities they have.
Reservations are encouraged for the limited seating workshop at Tolloty Technology Incubator.
Seats are $20 per person and for more information call the SBDC at 330-308-7522.
