Mary Alice Reporting – Residents can learn about activities conducted during the 1800’s this Saturday in New Philadelphia.

Among the hands-on experiences, butter churning, candle making, and writing with a quill pen will all be demonstrated.

Historic Schoenbrunn Village Site Director Dedria Lute says the 11 am to 3 pm event is open to any age range.

“We do have some scheduled activities this year. There’s no pre-registration required. When you come into the gift shop and pay your admission fee, we’ll give you a schedule of those events.”

All events and any supplies are inclusive in the regular admission price at $7 for adults, $5 for seniors 60 and older, students aged between 6 and 17 are $4.

Lute encourages all residents to come out for Children’s Day to reconnect with family and history to learn early skills.

“To come back to the foundation of life and learn those early skills. It’s a wonderful opportunity to unplug from society.”

Other activities participants will see include woodworking, cabin building, and corn grinding. For more details, find Historic Schoenbrunn Village on Facebook.
