Mary Alice Reporting –
The month of January highlights the important roles that school board members have in their communities.
Buckeye Career Center is again recognizing the work their board does since many members do serve on their respective district education boards.
Public Relations Coordinator Shyanne Carroll says that Buckeye has 11 board seats from their partnering districts that include Newcomerstown, East Holmes, Conotton valley, Claymont, Strasburg, Dover, Garaway, New Philadelphia, Carrollton, Indian Valley, and Tusky Valley.
She notes that, with this group, there are varying opinions that come up throughout their term.
“You have varying people who come from different parts of Tuscarawas, Carroll, and Holmes County so it’s just a good representation of our students as they form one school, which is Buckeye Career Center.”
Carroll says that, one thing the general public may not realize is the time and effort put in outside of regular board meetings.
“There’s a lot of things that goes on. Committee meetings before the actual school board meeting. This is just the time to thank them for the dedication they have for our students.”
Following Wednesday’s regular 7pm meeting, the board will be celebrated for their work with a small reception and a gift, hand-crafted by BCC Construction Technology students.
