(Monday, January 14, 2019) Tuscarawas County, Ohio – The Society for Equal Access provides transportation services to individuals with disabilities who live in Tuscarawas County and need transportation to medical appointments. Along with that, SEA has a new program that ensures wheelchair-bound residents will have access in and out of their house.

Director Kevin Hannahs says the program is funded through a grant through the United Way.

“Our services are really open to anybody, they are all free services. We offer a ramp program here in Tuscarawas County and we build somewhere around 20 ramps per year so that people have access in and out of their homes.”

Hannahs says when he hears of people who are wheelchair bound and unable to get out of their house due to an emergency, it could be that they don’t have ramp access.

To qualify for the ramp program, Hannahs said it is an easy process.

“Just call the office and we’ll do an assessment, make sure a ramp is possible on your property. Sometimes it’s not and there is too much elevation and not enough space.”

For more information on the ramp program, call the Society for Equal Access at (330) 343-9292.
