Sensory Event Planned at New Philadelphia Store

Michaela Madison Reporting

(Thursday, November 30th) New Philadelphia, Oho – The store, Charmed, operated by the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities, is hosting the Sensory Friendly Adaptive Art Family Fun Night tonight.

Kerri Silverthorn with TuscBDD explained Charmed offers unique artwork community members can purchase and a variety of events all while setting people up for success.

“We use it as a training facility for people with developmental disabilities,” said Silverthorn. “So, they can come in and intern for several weeks and really get to know how retail stores work. They get that under their belt so that they can go out and seek a job in the community.”

Tonight’s free event from 6-8 p.m. will include squishy, sticky, art-filled activities with up to three make-and-take projects and is great for children ages 4-14.

Silverthorn noted RSVPs for tonight’s event were due on November 27th, but she added there will be many other events like this one in the future.
